D aslam alaikum sisters. My name is Leah, im from England and im new to this forum...only discovered it over the weekend! and its brilliant as muslim sisters can have private discussions with one another!

referring to my topic, it clearly states in hadiths that a woman shouldnt speak to a man in a charming or sweet manner, nor should a man and woman speak to each other unnecessarily unless the man is her father, brother, husband or son..

we live in this country, the colleges, uniz and schools we attend often hav interaction between boys and girls...how can we avoid this because i dont blame those sisters who are forced to speak to men because their occupation involves workin wit men etc but at the same time we cant neglect the teachings of Islam...

i would like 2 hear ur views dear sisters!

JazakAllah-Khair
Allah-hafiz

Dear leah,
welcome to the sadakat.

I would like to give a web link which explains what is going on inside of a  man's body while he is chatting&talking with a woman!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3241579.stm

That's why talking&chatting between different sexes are not allowed in our religion. Even an ordinary chatting as well can cause changes on male hormones!

However in modern time, avoiding talking with other sex is not easy. So we should try to be firm, avoiding laughing, giggling and not using a charming voice while we are talking.

Sister Leah,
Its very hard to isolate ourselves in this world. Most often we are forced to speak to the opposite sex. I think, what is most important is to be mindful of our actions. Not to seek justification for our sins. We know it is wrong. But we pray to Allah to help us. To forgive us.
